Proficiency in secretarial skills of typing, filing, office procedures, operation of office equipment and machines, and computer functions. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Two years experience in clerical or secretarial work requiring frequent contact with the public. Working knowledge of an elementary school media center Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the summer school office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains student records. Maintains attendance records. Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence and phone calls as instructed. Tracks staff attendance, including substitute teacher records. Assists in providing first aid and helps notify parents in case of illness. Operates and supervises the media center. Assists teachers in the selection of books. Promotes appropriate conduct of students using the media center facilities. Provides story time as directed. Performs an annual inventory of media center materials. Maintains the media center in a neat and attractive condition. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 6 hours per day during the summer school schedule. The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
