HomeMy WebLinkAboutGrounds Crew ChiefApril 2004 TITLE: Grounds Crew Chief QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho Driver’s License. High School Diploma preferred. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to read and write and to understand operating instructions. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Welding skills. Supervisory experience preferred, but no mandatory. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Grounds Foreman JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To maintain the grounds of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness so that each student may be provided with an outdoor environment both pleasing in appearance and enjoyable for play. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the planning and design of new playground equipment. Supervises the installation of new playground equipment. Conducts safety inspections on all playground equipment. Maintains and repairs all playground equipment. Maintains an accurate inventory of playground equipment repair parts. Completes required paperwork and turns in after each shift. Completes work orders assigned by the Grounds Foreman. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Trains employees and insures that proper practices and procedures are followed. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time seasonal position that runs during the summer. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Grounds Foreman in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
