HomeMy WebLinkAboutHazardous Chemical App TechNovember 2010 TITLE: Hazardous Chemical Application Tech QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho Driver’s License. Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma preferred. Ability to read and write and to understand operating instructions. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Grounds Supervisor JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To maintain the grounds of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness so that each student may be provided with an outdoor environment both pleasing in appearance and enjoyable for play. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops a schedule of routine spraying of herbicides and pesticides to keep the grounds, foundations and sidewalks free of weeds and to keep the pest infestations to a minimum. Organizes and coordinates a schedule with the Irrigation Specialist to avoid having the chemicals washed away after spraying. Is responsible to see that the irrigation system is turned back on after the necessary time for the chemicals absorption has been met. Reports any unsafe or unsatisfactory conditions to the Grounds Supervisor. Assists with the installation of playground equipment. Cleans and maintains the District’s spraying equipment. Oversees the spraying of all hazardous chemicals. Keeps MSDS sheets up-to-date and stores them in the appropriate binder. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time, seasonal position that runs during the summer. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 4. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Grounds Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
