HomeMy WebLinkAboutLarge Mower OperatorApril 2004 TITLE: Large Mower Operator QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho Driver’s License. High School Diploma preferred. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to read and write and to understand operating instructions. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Grounds Foreman JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To maintain the grounds of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness so that each student may be provided with an outdoor environment both pleasing in appearance and enjoyable for play. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Makes sure that the district’s large lawn mowers are routinely serviced and maintained. Changes and sharpens mower blades for a smooth cut. Mows fields and large areas on a routine basis. Inspects grounds to insure that mowing and trimming meets district standards. Reports holes, wet areas from sprinkler leakage and any unsafe conditions to the Grounds Foreman. Learns proper methods and use of equipment and materials used in the mowing of the grounds. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time, seasonal position during June, July and August. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 4. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Grounds Foreman in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound The following chart indicates the activities required for this position and their frequency.
