HomeMy WebLinkAboutMaintenance SupervisorJanuary 28, 2019 TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge in various skilled and semi-skilled work involved in the maintenance of buildings. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Ability to complete paperwork pertaining to the job. High School Diploma. Ability to work with staff, students and the public and to supervise maintenance personnel. Must maintain at least one of the following Idaho recognized certifications/licenses: Department of Public Works Contractor, Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Plumber, HVC Journeyman. Must have a working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, roofing systems, plumbing and, building construction. Ability to set priorities and make decisions involving the Maintenance Department. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Previous supervisory experience required. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Operations JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested. To maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspects and examines school buildings and property on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance. Works with the Director and Operations Support Specialist to determine priorities on repair and capital projects. Estimates cost of repair and capital projects in terms of labor, material and overhead. Procures necessary permits for covered repairs/modifications through the local building department or Authority having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Assigns and supervises crews for maintenance work. Lays out and inspects work. Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency. Prepares reports on costs of work done, materials used, and labor expended and completes all other required paperwork. Orders materials as needed, and make recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase. Consults with Plant Engineer and Director regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs. Acts as the District Occupational Safety (DBS) expert as it applies to safe buildings and maintenance work practices. Accompanies the DBS inspector as needed and prepares follow up reports and Work Orders that address safety issues. Maintains such personnel and other records as are required. Completes annual performance evaluations on maintenance employees. Recruits, screens, and recommends workers for hiring or termination, and trains all workers necessary to the maintenance program. Trains employees to maintain a safe work environment. Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Performs all other duties as assigned TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 255 days per year. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 16. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
