TITLE: Maintenance/Plant Engineer QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 5 or more years experience supporting maintenance and operations. Other engineering degree and/or professional experience will be considered. Strong computer skills including: Advanced skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. AutoCAD or other design/drawing software Advanced Microsoft Windows skills (document, file, and folder management) Internet research skills Must have experience working with NFPA, NFC, building codes, OSHA, DBS and other safety standards or codes. Ability to plan, schedule and implement periodic maintenance of fire protection systems. Ability to analyze and interpret technical data and communicate it to non-technical individuals. Must have experience working with several different types of commercial HVAC systems. Knowledgeable of all mechanical, electrical, lighting and structural systems in K-12 environment. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System software. Experience with project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.) Ability to work independently with little direction. Must have a track record of strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Current Idaho Drivers License with a clean driving record. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Operations JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To support the Director of Operations in helping maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with crafts, custodians, and the Operations Support Specialist to develop a preventive maintenance program. Works with the Operations Support Specialist to implement computerized maintenance management system. Develops (or works with an architect to develop) technical and operational specifications for all major facility design and modifications projects. Acts as the District’s advocate in the development of operational acceptance testing. Provides regular information to the Director of Operations as to status of design work. Enhances and maintains the District’s as-built drawing files. Is responsible for all construction and as built drawings. Works with AutoCAD designer to as-build drawings when internal modifications are performed. Works with outside organizations to assure as-built drawings are provided for large projects. Improves the classroom environment through innovative design, modification, and repair of existing electrical, lighting, HVAC, and structural systems. Conducts routine building condition audits to assess district repair and modification needs. Is responsible for fire alarms, panels, extinguishers and sprinkler systems, kitchen fire suppression systems and ensures that existing devices and aids are in good working order. Creates, maintains and implements a written fire protection program. Researches specifications and codes for fire protection systems, request quotes as directed and oversees the design, installation and testing of these systems. Assists in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures with respect to life safety systems. Plans, schedules and documents periodic testing and maintenance on critical systems, such as fume hoods, elevators, fire alarms, and suppressions systems. Works with the custodial and maintenance team leads to coordinate fire protection activities and training. Works with the Energy Manager and the Director of Operations to seek continual improvements in energy conservation and savings. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A. Performs all other duties as assigned. VII. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 250 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be commensurate with education and experience. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. VIII. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. IX. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an office (80%) and in the field (20%).
