Ability to disseminate parenting information to a diverse set of families in a manner that is non-judgmental, respectful and affirms the strengths of each individual family. Skills in building rapport and trust relationships. Demonstrated ability to communicate accurately and effectively by phone and in person through listening, speaking, writing and non-verbally. Valid Idaho Driver's license and automobile insurance. Reliable personal transportation. Pass a criminal background check. REPORTS TO: Parents as Teachers Program Coordinator JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested, and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To provide education and support for the implementation of high-quality programs that enable parents to become their child's best first teacher. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes the PATNC national trainings to become a certified parent educator. Attends staff training as indicated, including 20 hours of in-service training in the first year. Identifies and recruits families that will benefit from the Parents as Teachers program Delivers the Parents as Teachers program following PAT curriculum guidelines. Conducts home visits one time per month per family. Connects families to appropriate community resources as needed. Collaborates with other community service providers to promote strong families and healthy children. Administers assessments/evaluation to provide updated student developmental progress. Collects and submits student data as needed. Assists with monthly parent meetings. Maintains PAT certification in subsequent years. Maintains a maximum caseload Submits receipts for materials and mileage in an accurate, timely and responsible manner. Meets with the PAT Coordinator to assess progress and review student goals. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of program information. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A Parent Educator will work up to 20 hours per week, for 50 weeks per year. This is a part-time position and is not eligible for benefits. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 3, depending upon education and experience. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Parents as Teachers Coordinator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
