HomeMy WebLinkAboutPreschool AideNovember 2004 TITLE: Preschool Aide for Students with Disabilities. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma. Ability to work with children with disabilities, parents, and staff members. Patient, yet firm. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. Physically able to perform assigned duties, which includes lifting children up to 50 pounds. Ability to work under the direction of the classroom teacher. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To help the teacher provide a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares for classroom activities under the supervision of the classroom teacher. Works with small groups of students to reinforce materials initially introduced by the classroom teacher. Performs clerical duties and helps teacher prepare materials. Assists students when arriving and departing on the bus, including bringing students in from the bus, or taking them out to the bus. Assists students with personal needs, which may include dressing, toileting, changing diapers, hand washing, feeding, etc. Follows the direction of the teacher in implementing the specific programs to meet IEP goals and objectives. Attends meetings, training and inservice as requested. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 3. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of medium duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
