HomeMy WebLinkAboutSDRR AideNovember 2004 TITLE: SDRR Aide (Specially Designed Resource Room) QUALIFICATIONS: C.N.A. Certified. Previous experience or training working with people with disabilities. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and transfer students weighing up to 200 pounds with the assistance of appropriate equipment. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Patient, yet firm. Ability to implement instructional programs with the assistance of the classroom teacher. Minimum of a High School Diploma. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To work closely with special education students with severe disabilities to provide them with the support they need to gain full benefits from the District’s special education program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists students with severe disabilities in their school routine. Assists SDRR students with personal grooming needs. Implements behavior modification programs and records required data accurately. Helps SDRR students move about the school building. Monitors appropriate behavior in mainstream classes. Assists SDRR students in class participation, use of adaptive materials and monitors students’ progress. Transfers students from wheelchairs to changing table. Implements toileting program, which may include diaper changes. Prepares class materials as needed. Assists in any physical or occupational therapies as directed. Assists with feeding of students. Strives to improve and maintain job skills through inservice training programs and other means. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 4. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
