HomeMy WebLinkAboutSpecial Education ChairpersonNovember 2005 TITLE: Special Education Chairperson QUALIFICATIONS: Holds a valid Idaho or PPC or license in profession with an endorsement in the assigned subject area. Is a full-time certified staff member employee of School District 91. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Special Education JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To achieve and maintain standards of excellence in the assigned area so that each student may derive the greatest academic and personal benefit from the experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts department chair meetings as requested by the Supervisor of Special Education. Attends and participates in district level curricular and departmental meetings. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings of department members. Disseminates pertinent information to department members. Assists in the preparing the ancillary schedules for department members under the direction of the Supervisor of Special Education. Coordinates inventories of all department equipment, books, and reference materials and makes sure equipment is working properly. Prepares all orders for books and supplies for the department. Catalogs all new and replacement equipment, tests, protocols, etc. Monitors consumable supply budget for the department. Prepares reports as requested by the Supervisor of Special Education. Serves for a two-year term. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employed annually under the Department Chairperson stipend as per the Stipend Schedule as listed in the Negotiated Master Contract between Idaho Falls School District 91 and the Idaho Falls Education Association. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Special Education as part of the teacher evaluation process in accordance with the Negotiated Master Contract.
