HomeMy WebLinkAboutYearbook Advisor - Jr HighFebruary 2001 TITLE: Yearbook Advisor – Junior High QUALIFICATIONS: Holds a valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in journalism. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To help each participating student gain and refine the skills needed to produce a yearbook and have a positive experience by working together towards a common goal. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs the production of a junior high school yearbook with the students performing as much of the work as possible. Establishes and oversees a budget for the yearbook. Directs and supervises students at all times while working on the school yearbook. Teaches the students proper methods of photography, photo cropping, electronic desktop publishing, printing, layout, and other aspects of the production of a yearbook. Schedules additional instructional time as needed to meet publication schedule. Supervises and is responsible for the yearbook content, including all pictures and other materials. Attends and supervises students at the State and possibly National Journalism Convention. Maintains a direct line of communication with administration. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employed annually under the Junior High School Yearbook Advisor stipend as per the Stipend Schedule as listed in the Negotiated Master Contract between Idaho Falls School District 91 and the Idaho Falls Education Association. VII. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator as part of the teacher evaluation process in accordance with the Negotiated Master Contract.
