HomeMy WebLinkAboutDistrict Systems AdministratorApril 2005 TITLE: District Systems Administrator QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in information technology related and/or education field(s) from an accredited university required with a valid Idaho teaching certificate preferred, or equivalent experience. Industry standard certification in IT related fields preferred (MSCE, etc.). Understanding of school finance. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Strong organizational skills. Trained and/or experienced in the following areas: Management of Windows servers, i.e. Windows 2000 Server OS, Windows 2003 Server OS, and Open VMS OS Domain Administration: Active Directory with organizational units, group polies, roaming profiles, etc. All Apple Macintosh and Windows desktop operating systems. Network administration and protocols; particularly TCP/IP protocols. Typical TCP/IP client-server applications such as telnet, ftp, tftp, smnp, pop3, http, etc. Internet administration using proxy server, firewalls, and filters. Storage area networks (SAN) including disk storage and tape backup. Windows and Apple Macintosh application software such as Microsoft Office, etc. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Technology Services. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To administer the technology hardware and software in the district technology center. To review the purchase of all technology hardware and software in the district. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages Windows Active Directory system Supervises the creation and maintenance of Organizational Units. Supervises the creation and maintenance of Global, Local, and Distribution Groups. Supervises the creation and maintenance of Group Policies. Supervises the creation and maintenance of student Roaming Profiles. Supervises the creation and maintenance of all other aspects of Active Directory. Performs the installation and maintenance of the operating systems on district servers, both Windows and Open VMS servers. Performs the installation and maintenance of server-based software, such as, Ellis, Waterford, Deep Freeze Enterprise, SMS, etc. Supervises the creation and maintenance of all user accounts, staff and student, including the permissions/privileges granted to users and groups. Maintains a logical directory structure on file servers and manages network printers and print servers. Continuously assess the adequacy of the hardware in the server farm, in regards to age, memory, disk space, etc., to meet the needs of the district. Supervises the district-wide technology hardware technicians. Approves the purchase of all technology hardware and software in the district. Confers with the District Building Technology Team and Technology Aides on technology setup and implementation. Is familiar with all system operations of the technology services in order to provide backup to other Technology Center staff. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The annual contract will be based on 250 days of service (twelve months). Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 16. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Technology Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
