HomeMy WebLinkAboutInstructional Technology CoorMarch 2009 TITLE: Instructional Technology Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: College degree in education and/or technology related field required with a teaching certificate preferred or equivalent experience Ability to work with staff, students, and the public Strong organizational skills Educational technology planning skills and experience Experience in most or all of these areas is required: All Apple Macintosh and Windows desktop operating systems Networks and network protocols. Technology teaching tools such as gradebooks, on-line testing, etc. Instructional software such as Accelerated Reader/Math, Inspiration/Kidspiration paint/graphic programs, multimedia editing and production software, etc. Windows and Apple Macintosh application software such as Microsoft Office, etc. Teaching technology related classes to teachers and educational staff Integration of technology into various instructional curriculums F. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Technology Services. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To help teachers integrate technology into the existing curriculum and to train teachers and other educational personnel in the use of technology as an instructional and classroom tool at all grade levels To help with district and building level technology planning and implementation ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Installs and manages operating systems (MAC and Windows) and related network operations. Manages and supervises the building technology team and provides support to the elementary technology aides. Prepares and/or coordinates various technology grant applications, such as the federal “E-rate” program, the state technology grants, etc., and supports the implementation of such grants. Performs troubleshooting of computer hardware and related peripherals. Assists in the use of all district instructional software and instructs staff as to its use and integration into curriculum such as Office products, AR and AM, on-line testing, Inspiration, Kidspiration, etc. Supervises the installation and management of instructional on-line testing databases and other curriculum software on district servers and trains staff in management and use of the same. Manages all district software licenses and supervises the management of building level software licenses to ensure compliance. Coordinates the distribution and management of District-wide licensed software, such as Office products, network client, operating systems, textbook publisher software, etc. Coordinates the district’s technology in-service programs and teaches such classes when appropriate. Prepares state and other technology grant status reports. Prepares installation instructions and user handouts for various District-wide software applications. Is familiar with all system operations of the technology services and is able to perform various tasks as backup to other technology services staff.. Coordinates the integration of technology into the existing curriculum by: Finding or developing curriculum for use by teachers to integrate the technology in various subject areas and grade levels. Visiting schools on a regular basis to demonstrate various ways of using the technology. This is to include both teacher and classroom demonstrations. Working with the schools to find appropriate computer software and materials for use in grades K-12. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 210 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 16 or placement on teacher’s salary schedule if certified. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Technology Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified or certified personnel.
