Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Competent in the use of the computer and business machines. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Previous experience in Versa-Trans or other routing software. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student. To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the District’s Transportation office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of children can be achieved. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and maintains bus routes using Versa-Trans or other routing software Trains other staff on routing software. Works with supervisor and administration to analyze affects of routing changes. Updates bus routes on Versa-Trans including bus stops, route mapping, adjusting student loads, and assists with placing special needs students on the most logical route. Provides projections on proposed boundary changes using Versa-Trans. Prepares and codes work orders, bills, and credit card receipts for supervisor approval. Maintains bus and fleet mileage by reimbursable and non-reimbursable categories for annual State Department of Education report. Uses Versa-Trans to provide current student information as needed. Uses two-way radio to assist drivers; which may include emergency and non-emergency situations and provides telephone support between drivers, schools and parents. Responds to telephone inquiries regarding problems, route information, route changes, complaints, etc. Explains assignments to drivers and answers any questions regarding their route. Maintains payroll records for transportation personnel. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists Transportation Supervisor as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 260 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 7-10, depending on experience and skills in routing software. Grade 9 implies expert ability and a minimum of 5 years experience at expert level. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. This “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
