HomeMy WebLinkAboutInclusion Coach -SPED 2020February 2020 TITLE: Inclusion Coach – SPED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated success as a teacher Experience working with children with functional or behavioral independence needs Strong communication skills and the ability to coach/mentor others Experience in modifying/adapting curriculum, professional development and data interpretation Knowledge of Idaho Special Education Manual Knowledge of Special Education Law and current Medicaid rules and policy Knowledge of assessment practices including universal screening, formative assessment and progress monitoring Demonstrated effective use of instructional and assessment technology Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons Valid Idaho Standard Teaching Certificate and Advanced Exceptional Child Certificate Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with teaching experience in both special education and general education Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To support Student Services vision: District 91 strives to program individually for students with disabilities in order for them to participate with their typical peers to the greatest extent possible. The Inclusion Coach will work with building principals, special education teachers, classroom teachers and paraeducators to provide direct support and assistance in the classroom. They will facilitate the process of programming individually for students, use of effective instructional strategies, and use data to improve student growth toward student IEP goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Forms strong professional relationships with colleagues Communicates effectively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals Provides side-by-side coaching based on classroom observations Supports teacher learning by training and coaching staff in programming individually for students Assists teachers and paraeducators in the development of effective classroom management strategies Provides staff development to small or large groups of educators Works collaboratively with teachers to use cognitively-guided strategies and techniques in order to maximize functional and behavioral independence needs. Cultivates and models a respectful working and learning environment Maintains daily records and submits Medicaid billing monthly Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons Has regular and predictable attendance This organization believes that every individual makes a significant contribution to our success. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Teacher’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services as part of the teacher evaluation process in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
