Meet minimum USDA Professional Standards for School Nutrition Professionals. Ability to work with staff, students and public. Strong Math Skills. Strong communication skills. Willingness to try new ideas. Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of USDA Regulations for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Confidentiality. Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds. Physically able to perform assigned duties. Previous kitchen experience preferred, but not mandatory. Good Driving Record. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Supervisor. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the child nutrition program so that the program’s maximum positive impact on the education and health of children can be achieved. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor USDA and State of Idaho sites to ensure compliance and implementation of regulations, meal plans, and sanitation and safety procedures. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Maximize the efficiency of the workforce, meet legal requirements and district objectives and ensure the provision of excellent customer service. Participates in variety of meetings, classes and training for the purpose of conveying/receiving information and/or enhancing professional skills/knowledge. Conducts training sessions and/or periodic site reviews of kitchens and satellites for the purpose of improving skills and assisting in maintaining standard operation procedures. Comfortable marketing school lunch to students and staff, schedule activities, meeting and/or events. Ability to perform functions as required of another position (e.g. cafeteria worker, lunch server, etc.) for the purpose of providing overall coverage of food service operations. Understands and teaches Point of Sale standards and procedures and provides technical support as needed. Work under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods and direct other persons with a small work unit. Maintains accurate records of training on a spreadsheet. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining confidentiality; communicating with persons of varied backgrounds; providing direction and leadership; adapting to changing work priorities; working within time constraints; interpret and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes and regulations pertaining to assigned programs and functions; analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendation in support of goals; and working as part of a team.\ Liaison with building administrator. Answers the telephone in a pleasant and professional manner. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Takes daily deposit to the bank as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for ____ days. The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a range from Grade 6 to Grade 8. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Child Nutrition Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
