HomeMy WebLinkAboutCareerTech Ed CoordinatorJanuary 2022 TITLE: Career & Technical Education Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: Qualify for or hold an Occupational Specialist Certificate or hold a career & technical endorsement on the secondary teaching credential. Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in a career & technical education program. Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university or completing administration certification. Have completed at least fifteen semester credits of administrative course work including the following: financial aspects of career & technical education; administration of personnel; and legal aspects of career & technical education. Additional course work can be selected from any of the following areas: administration and supervision of occupational programs; instructional supervision; administration internship; curriculum development curriculum evaluation; research in curriculum; school community relations; communication; teaching the adult learner; coordination of work-based learning programs; and/or measurement and evaluation. Valid Idaho Career & Technical Administrator’s Certificate or completing administration certification. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To develop and coordinate career & technical education programs that will offer students the opportunity for occupational exploration and will provide students with technical skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for pursuing post-secondary training or for successful performance in a globally competitive workplace. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, coordinates, and facilitates career & technical offerings with the cooperative service agency (i.e. new programs, jointly sponsored programs, course descriptions, and scheduling). Supports Idaho State Board of Education and Division of Career Technical Education goals. Maintains current knowledge of all pertinent rules and regulations affecting career & education. Serves as the & career & technical liaison for The Division with the district(s) in the cooperative service agency; advises The Division of issues and concerns from the cooperative service agency that directly and indirectly affect career & technical education. Participates, as appropriate, on district management/planning teams. Promotes the integration of academic and career & technical education, and promotes articulation activities at all levels (i.e. junior high to senior high; school work; and senior high to postsecondary). Coordinates with the Region 6 Transition Coordinator and/or CEI CTE Coordinator in the region and other regions as necessary. Promotes and provides regular public information on career & technical education programs to students, parents, administrators, and community patrons. Promotes working relationships with the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in the area. Coordinates with alternative high schools in terms of career & technical offerings, as appropriate. Promotes and encourages career & technical student organizations in the career & technical program areas. Maintains close working relationships with community and state agencies and area businesses, industries, and labor organizations to provide training consistent with needs. Provides leadership in establishing and maintaining advisory committees for career & technical programs and keeps file copies of the meeting minutes. Coordinates current inventory records for all career & technical programs in the cooperative, including inventory career & technical equipment. Works cooperatively with postsecondary representatives to coordinate secondary career & technical efforts. Attends in-service meetings sponsored by The Division of Career & Technical Education. Provides performance accountability to The Division and to The Cooperative (i.e. annual plan, annual report, and Career & Technical High School attendance and program reports). Assumes responsibility for the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to career technical education to state agencies. Helps identify and plan in-service activities to meet the professional development needs of career & technical instructors. Is responsible for writing and coordinating the Carl D Perkins Career and Technical Education Plan and Grant Applications for the consortium of School Districts 91, 59, and 252 to ensure career & technical goals are addressed. Works to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting these opportunities. Continuously appraises and evaluates the total career & technical program to achieve the established goals of providing the opportunity for students to prepare for post secondary education. Makes recommendations for long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in the career & technical education program to meet changing job trends and needs. Advises and assists in obtaining state and federal funds for career & technical education programs. Serves as the administrator for the Career and Technical Education Center and supervises teachers who offer classes to just the consortium schools. Assists with all work-experience programs in the schools. Prepares and administers the career & technical budgets. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The annual contract will be based on 225 days of service. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Administrator’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with board policy.
