HomeMy WebLinkAboutSchool Safety, SEL, Substitute Teacher CoordinatorIdaho Falls School District #91FLSA Status – Exempt April 2022 TITLE: School Safety and SEL Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) years teaching and or counseling experience Minimum Bachelors degree, Masters Degree preferred Deep knowledge of the development of social emotional learning. Possess outstanding presentation and facilitation skills. Interpersonal skills (communication, problems solving, conflict management, collaboration) to share research based instructional approaches with teachers and administrations and provide advice, mentoring and coaching specifically as it relates to social emotional learning. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. Manage safety and security programs for the school district and will oversee emergency response procedures. Coordinates community resources for schools. Oversees and collaborates with District Crisis Teams. Support staff in the implementation of programs interventions with students struggling with interfering behaviors. Focus on enhancing teachers’ ability to provide instruction that builds students’ social emotional learning ability and sense of engagement in the ownership of learning. Hires, trains and oversees district substitute teachers. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops plans, procedures, and objectives to facilitate and improve safety and security programs. Implements safety and security protocols to ensure a safe school environment. Evaluates effectiveness of school safety, security programs. Ensures application of safety and security protocols at public events, sports events, and other extracurricular school activities. Recommends and implements procedures and best practices to prevent and deter violence at schools or other district properties. Researches and recommends additions and improvements to the safety management program, particularly in areas such as emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management. Coordinates with local law enforcement and other appropriate health and safety professionals in matters of public safety involving students and staff. Facilitates the integration of social emotional learning and mindfulness as a regular part of a proactive classroom behavior management system to assist with instructional delivery. Provides staff development on the social emotional learning program components and how it assists instructional design as it relates to meeting content and social emotional learning standards. Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve social emotional learning for all students. Works with principals to create a school-wide focus on goals for social emotional learning. Supports the school’s screening procedure, training, and data collection. Hires, trains, and supports district substitute teachers. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of emergency preparedness and protocols. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physically able to conduct inspections and traverse all properties belonging to the school district. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer at times. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Communication with students, staff, and the community; hearing must be within the range of normal human conversation. Visual acuity to prepare and read reports. Verbal communication skills for interacting with students, families, staff, and the general public. Computer input and filing; manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment. Work Environment: Subject to constant interruptions. Fast-paced environment. High level of activity. May be exposed to infectious disease. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The annual contract will be based on 8 hours per day, 225 days of service. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Administrative Salary Schedule commensurate with years of administrative experience and education. VIIII.EVALUATION: Performance shall be evaluated annually by the Superintendent, in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policy on administrative personnel.
